Fund­ing

Our aim is to keep swim­ming at DASC as afford­able as pos­si­ble and despite ris­ing costs our fees have remained the same for many years. How­ever, a decline in mem­ber­ship means that the club is now run­ning at a loss.

The annual cost of rent­ing the pool is £8000, our insur­ance costs £1000 and we also need to pay for train­ing, equip­ment and events. Based on cur­rent mem­ber­ship and aver­age weekly atten­dance our pro­jected income from fees is £9000.

This means we either need to increase our income, e.g. increased fees, more fundrais­ing, or reduce costs, e.g. fewer ses­sions. We are anx­ious to get your views on this and also how we can improve the club so we are dis­trib­ut­ing a sim­ple ques­tion­naire with this newsletter.

Spon­sored Swim

Well done to every­one who took part in last year’s spon­sored swim. A fan­tas­tic effort raised £899, of which £450 was donated to the Dun­bar branch of the RNLI.

Hal­loween Party

The Hal­loween swim will be on Thurs­day 3^rd Novem­ber. There will be two ses­sions: the first between 6-7pm for 1st ses­sion swim­mers; and the sec­ond from 7:15 to 8:15 pm for ses­sion 2 and 3 swim­mers. We ask par­ents to help by bring­ing along apples for the tra­di­tional apple dooking.

Pub­lic Holidays

There will be no swim­ming club dur­ing the Octo­ber half term break from Sat­ur­day 15 Octo­ber to Mon­day 24 October.

Pool­side Help

Could all par­ents please try to make sure they carry out their rota duties both at the pool­side and at the sign­ing in desk. The club depends on your help! It would be great if any helpers could arrive a few min­utes early to help set­ting up lane ropes etc. to make sure all the ses­sion one swim­mers get in the water at 6 pm.

Swimwear

We encour­age all swim­mers to wear gog­gles and to either wear a swim­ming cap or keep long hair tied back.
