Funding
Our aim is to keep swimming at DASC as affordable as possible and despite rising costs our fees have remained the same for many years. However, a decline in membership means that the club is now running at a loss.
The annual cost of renting the pool is £8000, our insurance costs £1000 and we also need to pay for training, equipment and events. Based on current membership and average weekly attendance our projected income from fees is £9000.
This means we either need to increase our income, e.g. increased fees, more fundraising, or reduce costs, e.g. fewer sessions. We are anxious to get your views on this and also how we can improve the club so we are distributing a simple questionnaire with this newsletter.
Dunbar Amateur Swimming Club Member Survey
We urge you to complete it and return this to us before the end of October.
Sponsored Swim
Well done to everyone who took part in last year’s sponsored swim. A fantastic effort raised £899, of which £450 was donated to the Dunbar branch of the RNLI.
Halloween Party
The Halloween swim will be on Thursday 3rd November. There will be two sessions: the first between 6-7pm for 1st session swimmers; and the second from 7:15 to 8:15 pm for session 2 and 3 swimmers. We ask parents to help by bringing along apples for the traditional apple dooking.
Public Holidays
There will be no swimming club during the October half term break from Saturday 15 October to Monday 24 October.
Poolside Help
Could all parents please try to make sure they carry out their rota duties both at the poolside and at the signing in desk. The club depends on your help! It would be great if any helpers could arrive a few minutes early to help setting up lane ropes etc. to make sure all the session one swimmers get in the water at 6 pm.
Website
We want to make most of our written communication with members electronic. Please sign up to receive messages by email on our web page. You will also find all the latest news and information there.
Swimwear
We encourage all swimmers to wear goggles and to either wear a swimming cap or keep long hair tied back.
