Sorry for the late notice but we have just been told that the pool will be closed for main­te­nance dur­ing the week begin­ning 21st June 2010, so our last swim this term will now be Sat­ur­day 19th June.

If every­one could pass this infor­ma­tion on to as many peo­ple as they can we would be very grateful.

The first swim of next term is Mon­day 6th Sep­tem­ber 2010.

CIVIC WEEK FUN SWIM

Thurs­day 17th June 6.30 — 8pm

First come, first served — num­bers are lim­ited to 120

DASC Mem­bers Free.   Non-members £2.

Under 8’s must be accom­pa­nied by an adult.

BBQ

Sun­day 20th June 12 — 4pm

John Muir Coun­try Park — Bar­beque area

£2 per head

AGM

The AGM will be held on Tues­day 18th May at 8:00pm at Dun­bar Leisure Pool.  We really need your help to keep the club run­ning.  Please come along to find out what you can do to help out either on a reg­u­lar or one-off basis.  We always wel­come new com­mit­tee mem­bers.  This year we are intro­duc­ing a new ini­tia­tive to have rep­re­sen­ta­tives for each of the three club ses­sions and we will need peo­ple to fill these roles.  There will also be oppor­tu­ni­ties for peo­ple to pur­sue qual­i­fi­ca­tions in coach­ing and life-guarding through our vol­un­teer scheme.  Cheese and wine will be served.

SPONSORED SWIM

This year’s spon­sored swims will be held on Mon­day 31st May and Thurs­day 3rd June.  Last year we raised over £600 for Friends of Bel­haven Hos­pi­tal.  This year we will be rais­ing money for the East Loth­ian Playscheme and RNLI.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

The club cham­pi­onships were a great suc­cess with some fan­tas­tic swims from swim­mers of all ages and abil­i­ties.  It’s great to see all those tak­ing part get­ting so much out of this.  We would remind all the win­ners to get tro­phies engraved.

BBQ

Our annual sum­mer BBQ will be held at John Muir Coun­try Park on Sun­day 20th June.  This is a fun-filled fam­ily event and what bet­ter way to cel­e­brate Fathers Day!

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

There will be no swim­ming club on Sat­ur­day 1st May, Mon­day 3rd May (May Day), Sat­ur­day 15th May or Mon­day 17th May.

POOLSIDE HELP

Could all par­ents please try to make sure they carry out their rota duties both at the pool­side and at the sign­ing in desk.  The club depends on you help!  We’d also wel­come any help set­ting up lane ropes at the start of ses­sions to make sure all the ses­sion one swim­mers get in the water at 6pm.

FOR SALE

We keep a small sup­ply of gog­gles, hats, nose clips, water bot­tles and DASC tee-shirts / sweat­shirts for sale.

Club Cham­pi­onships

Heats will be held on Mon­day 1st March, Mon­day 8th March and Thurs­day 11th March.  The finals will be held on Thurs­day 18th March.  Remem­ber to hand in your entry forms.  All tro­phies need to be returned as soon as pos­si­ble.  Please make sure these are engraved and cleaned before hand­ing them back.  As usual we’d wel­come vol­un­teer time­keep­ers for all three heats and the finals.

Raf­fle Prizes

We would greatly appre­ci­ate any dona­tions for raf­fle prizes for the club cham­pi­onships.  These should be handed in by Mon­day 15th March.

Half-Term Hol­i­days

There will be no swim­ming club dur­ing half-term from Sat­ur­day 13th to Mon­day 22nd Feb­ru­ary inclusive.

Christ­mas Party

Thanks to all those who pro­vided and helped with all the food for the Christ­mas Party.  Much appre­ci­ated and enjoyed by all.

Com­mit­tee Departure

Trisha Smith has decided to resign from the com­mit­tee.  Thanks to Trisha for all the hard work she has done over the past years for DASC.

Spon­sored Swim

This year’s spon­sored swims will be held on Mon­day 31st May and Thurs­day 3rd June.  Forms and let­ters will be sent out after the Easter Holidays.

Sub­scrip­tions

Thanks to all for prompt pay­ment of sub­scrip­tions.  Nearly every­one has paid at the time of writ­ing.  As you know, this is essen­tial to main­tain our insur­ance for all swim­mers, with­out which the club couldn’t run.
